Disconnect to reconnect. After writing my book ON/OFF (essays on the need for more balance in the digital age) I initiated a campaign to get everyone in Holland to switch off their phones for two minutes during our National Commemoration at 8pm on May 4th.
We called it 2BelminutenStilte.
KPN, Vodafone and T-Mobile were invited to extend the invitation, resulting in national coverage with 42 different media titles, an estimated media value of 1.2 million euros and 400K people switching off their phones during the moment of remembrance.
What's more, National Comittee May 4 and May 5th was kind enough to invite the project team to the May 5th celebrations, where I gave Queen Máxima my book.
